Jody Strohm worked on some scenery. She put down some bushes on one of the hills. Most of the members of the Society of Model Engineers have contributed already to the layout.
Here is what the bushes look like.
These photos show how we put a gravel parking lot behind the feed and grain building. This building was featured in the drawing in the MR article . In the left photo, a layer of paint goes down over the plastic base. This acts as glue, and makes sure the white plastic does not show through the gravel. in the right photo, thegravel is sprinkled into the wet paint. In addition to the paint, a layer of thinned and wetted white glue is put into the gravel to prevent any loosening.
Ballast is being applied to the sides of the track. The ties that turned white (from plaster) will be painted later.
Here are some close-ups of the town.
An overview of the whole layout.
On July 7, we put out the cars.
Two views of the town. The left is the view fron the top of the grain elevator, and the right is looking the other way down main street.
The stockyard is ready for the cattle.
We will be doing touch up and getting the last of the buildings in on July
11. After that, we'll see you at the show.
