    Show &Tell

Its time to show your stuff. Bring what you’ve been working on, that special tool, or Holiday gift. Share your progress and even ask questions. This is where we come together to learn, enjoy, share the fun of model Railroading. Can’t wait to see what everyone brings.

    Clinic: “Pulp Function”

Dan Wiltshire will share his latest “Paper” creation that will be featured in LOTS Switcher publication. Dan turned to paper to create his fleet of semi Trailers to support the Johnson Controls Battery factory in St. Joseph Missouri. Looking forward to seeing this technique to add depth/detail to our layouts.

Who we are and What we do

Annual Train Show

Our Annual Train show brings the best of our Division to the public. We host clinics, home layout tours, and a model contest all open to the public. We bring in venders far and wide to connect with our members and the public railroad community. In addition local Modular Railroad clubs set up their layouts for show right in the Vendor room. All of this at the local Shawnee Civic Center one of the best venues in the area.

Meetings

Our Division meets monthly on the 4th Tuesday at 7pm at the Lakeview Senior Facility in Lenexa. Most meetings include clinics where fellow modelers show their latest creations, tips & techniques, layout info, or railroad history. We also host Show & Tell events open to all members. Special events include a Spring Model Challenge Contest, visit to the Missouri Model RR Museum, and Operating Sessions at several members railroads.

Model Train Layouts

Explore the fantastic layouts of the Turkey Creek Division. You will quickly see that every gauge, location, and style are enjoyed in our Division. From early stages of benchwork to completed scenery masterpieces these layouts are shared for the enjoyment of Model Railroading. Our Division also enjoys some of the best Operational Layouts where you can try your hand at running your favorite Loco down the main line, switching cars in the yard or local industries, or controlling the entire empire as the Dispatcher.

Achievement Program

The NMRA has set up a program to challenge the railroad skills development. It is a very comprehensive program covering skills from trackwork, model building, scenery, operations, and volunteering. Overall there are 11 areas to explore. Completing a range of tasks in each area is awarded with a Certificate. Completing 7 of the 11 certificates will earn you the Master Modeler Railroader Award. This a very valued and respected recognition for all members of the NMRA.
